Welcome to Plum room, our two year old room where independence flourishes
The unit offers the best experiences, supporting our 2 year old’s with their newfound independence and desire to be involved in lots of new things. Staff provide activities that prompt curiosity and motivate children to experiment and free play allows time to explore and develop independence in learning
Providing three separate play areas, offering opportunities for mark making, painting, play dough and water play, and fine motor activities such as construction, a large role play area and direct access out into the nursery garden, all offering endless opportunities to explore, experiment and investigate
Outside the children have access to the playground and Orchard, where they can explore and play with bikes, cars, the large play trial, mud kitchen and dens. They help Mark our gardener in the vegetable garden, planting and caring for crops
Children are encouraged to set the table for lunch and self serve their food and feed themselves. At snack time they help prepare the food, cutting up fruit and then pouring their own drink
Daily circle time sessions for storytelling and nursery rhymes help to build vocabulary and support speech and language development, a cosy corner provides opportunities for retelling stories and singing rhymes independently with friends
Children at this age are often beginning toilet training and staff work happily with families, using years of experience to support children when they are ready to start
